Here's the story behind the wxnt.net domain. It seems some company
in China registered WXNT.COM. I figured that the WXNT station would have
gone with WXNT.NET, but no, they chose newstalk1430.com. I guess that fits
with their slogan. But to me, if someone is looking for their station,
they are going to start looking for their call letters first, not
knowing the slogan is "News Talk 1430". There's no rule
saying you can't have more than one domain name pointing to your web site.
"newstalk1430.com" is nice to say on the air, since it matches the slogan, but
WXNT.NET seems logical to me. My purpose in registering this
name is not to fight WXNT over it, nor to make a lot of money. My purpose
is to hold it, so that a party who may be unfriendly to WXNT doesn't get it first. |
